Junior Golf Center Coming to Bay Ridge - Brooklyn
The City Parks Foundation has offically broken ground on a new $6 million junior golf center to be located on 11.8 acres adjacent to Dyker Beach Golf Center.
The new facility, which will include a six-hole golf course, nine-station driving range and 4,275 sq.-ft clubhouse/classroom, will be provided free to children ages 5 to 17.
The project will be built with both public and private funding. NYC and NY State are contributing approximately $2 million to the costs and the remainder will be funded through provide donations.
Mayor Bloomberg and several other officials attended the ground-breaking ceremony last week at the site. It is expected to open by September, 2007.

Thanks to Golf In NYC for posting this news about our groundbreaking announcement for the CityParks Junior Golf Center.
We do wish to correct one point in your posting about the Junior Golf Center. While we very much appreciate the work of The First Tee and the Tiger Woods Foundation, our programs, including the Junior Golf Center, are not affiliated or funded by either of these fine organizations. City Parks Foundation is creating and managing the CityParks Junior Golf Center independently, with the support of public and private funds.
The CityParks Junior Golf Center will be the cornerstone facility for our larger CityParks Golf program, which teaches golf to thousands of New York City kids each summer for free, beginning in their neighborhood parks and advancing to driving ranges and public golf courses as participants develop in the sport.
We believe it will be the first comprehensive and free golf center exclusively for youth in the nation and we welcome kids from across the city to visit www.CityParksFoundation.org to learn more about the project and how to get involved.
We continue to welcome collaboration and support from others, and invite those interested in the Junior Golf Center or in our CityParks Golf program to contact us at (718) 760-6999.
With best wishes,
PHILIP CRAFT
